About Us
The Old Garage Stained Glass Studio is a truly family affair. Richard and Julie Sanders run the business together (from their workshop in the garden) designing and making original glassware and bespoke, traditionally made leaded stained glass panels.
Richard works mostly on the traditional leaded work, repairing and restoring domestic stained glass panels as well as one-off personally commissioned projects. All the decorative leaded items from our studio are designed and hand-made by Richard.
Julie’s work is more contemporary. The bowls, sun-catchers and decorative items are hand-made using the fused glass method. Cold glass is cut by hand to the desired design, this is then placed in a kiln and fired until fused together. This initial firing can take up to 20 hours! Bowls go through a second kiln firing to be slumped into a mould. The end products are not only beautiful but robust enough to be used every day.
